Press conference at the Ministry of Justice with Minister of the Interior and Minister of Justice

A press conference from the Ministry of Justice on the Day of Action against Child Pornography is not a nice occasion for a stream, but it is an all the more important signal to all offenders. Minister of Justice Georg Eisenreich, Minister of the Interior Joachim Herrmann, Chief Public Prosecutor Thomas Goger and Detective Chief Dieter Hausberger presented the successes of a Bavaria-wide action against child pornography to the public in Munich.

Operation Wake-up Call 2022

The day before, the Centre for Combating Child Pornography and Sexual Abuse on the Internet (ZKI) at the General Public Prosecutor’s Office in Bamberg, together with the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office, coordinated the second broad-based day of action against child pornography under the campaign name Operation Wake-up Call 2022.

On the day of action, 50 properties were searched throughout Bavaria – a total of 238 police officers from all over Bavaria were deployed. 55 suspects between the ages of 18 and 73 are suspected of possessing or even distributing child pornography.

At the press conference from the Palace of Justice in Munich, Bavaria’s Justice Minister Georg Eisenreich warned: “The net is not a lawless space. With Operation Wake-Up Call 2022, we are once again sending a clear signal: perpetrators cannot hide behind the supposed anonymity of the internet. Those who commit such heinous crimes can never feel safe in Bavaria.”

Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann added: “We are stepping up the fight against child pornography and child abuse. The police and the judiciary are working hand in hand to effectively combat these heinous acts. Our highly committed investigators are doing everything they can to put the unscrupulous perpetrators behind bars.”

In addition to the ministers and the head of the special unit against child pornography and sexual child abuse, senior public prosecutor Thomas Goger, senior detective Dieter Hausberger, head of the cybercrime department at the LKA Bavaria, was also available to representatives of the press. Among other things, he described the concrete course of the police action.

The press conference took the form of a hybrid press conference. Some media representatives were on site, and at the same time the press conference was broadcast live on Youtube and was thus also accessible to journalists online.

Our technology at the Ministry of Justice

We chose three PTZ cameras for the press conference. These cameras can be controlled remotely and thus allow for a low deployment of personnel, which is an important criterion for many clients, especially in corona times. At the same time, the invited media representatives can move around more freely.

This time, the sound was provided by the ministry’s own in-house technology – we simply plugged in.

You can watch the livestream again here on Youtube.
