Political discussion before the federal election in simple language

Inclusion is important and a task for the whole of society. Especially in political discussions, complex terms are often used that are not understandable for everyone. Under the title “Simple Election Bundestag 2021”, an event organised by QuarterM addressed precisely this problem: Politicians from the CSU, SPD, FDP and Greens answered questions in simple language before the election. We at Stream1 were allowed to stream the event live.

The QuarterM Gemeinnützige Gesellschaft für soziale Quartiersentwicklung mbH invited to an inclusive panel discussion two months before the Bundestag elections. One representative each from the SPD and FDP as well as one candidate each from the CSU and the Greens spoke about participation and housing and answered the questions previously received via the website.

The event, entitled ‘Simple Election Bundestag 2021’, was held in simple language in keeping with the occasion, and the politicians also endeavoured to describe their political ideas slowly and in simple terms, which they mostly succeeded in doing.

The stream took place as an online event and was available on the website for all interested viewers. The participants Daniel Föst (FPD), Anja Burkhardt (CSU), Jamila Schäfer (Greens) and Sebastian Roloff (SPD) were connected from home or directly from their offices. A moderator led through the event, asked the questions and guided the discussion. At the same time, a sign language interpreter was connected to translate the individual contributions for the hearing-impaired and integrated into the final image via split screen.

Livestream with Microsoft Teams

The Microsoft Teams stream was controlled from our control desk in our Livestream Studio in Munich. The individual image signals of the guests were picked up and integrated into an appealing interface. The resulting stream was then streamed on the event’s website.

The event was a complete success. The viewers, who watched the stream either directly from home or together in their institution, were enthusiastic about the event. Of course, we are happy about this, which is why we don’t want to withhold a bit of feedback from you: “Super. Thumbs up!”, “Thank you very much! It was very good” or “Great event”.

Even the Süddeutsche Zeitung reported on the successful political discussion afterwards.

Are you also planning to broadcast a political event live? Then we would be happy to be your livestream partner. Give us a call: 089 41 41 453 10
