Sono Motors‘ Sion electric car can travel up to an additional 37 kilometres per day thanks to solar cells built into the body. It is a unique technology that has made the Munich-based start-up famous all over the world and inspired people all over the world. More than 16,000 interested parties have already reserved a Sion, the series production of which is scheduled to start in the next few years. At the beginning of the year, we already streamed the presentation of the Sion live at the tech trade fair CES in Las Vegas. Now it went live again: Sono Motors launched on NASDAQ.
The company, which in the long term not only wants to bring private cars with solar cells onto the market, but is also already developing solar trucks and solar buses, is a revolution in the car world. The company’s IPO was awaited with corresponding excitement. Not only in Germany, but also in the USA.
We streamed the founders live on US television
In addition to Spiegel and Deutsche Welle, major American TV stations like CNBC and Fox News interviewed the two founders. In the popular “Power Lunch” on CNBC, Jona Christians and Laurin Hahn explained why they deliberately went public in the USA and not in Germany. This is because the bureaucratic hurdles in America are significantly lower and, moreover, people in the USA are more open to new technologies.
But at Sono, it’s not just the solar technology that’s revolutionary – the company’s approach to the community is also unique in the industry. Sono lets fans and supporters participate in its development. And so, just a few days after the IPO, we also broadcast the information event for the community live – directly to Youtube.
We wish Sono Motors continued success and look forward to seeing the first Sions on the streets soon!
