Sparkling champagne, beaming faces and a breathtaking view over the Olympic Park in Munich: the award ceremony of the European Gymnastics Union had many highlights to offer. As a hybrid event with 100 guests on site, the award ceremony was streamed live on Youtube for the first time. Of course, with the professional support of the Munich livestream agency Stream1.
Exciting online voting for the “Gymnast of the Year” 2021
The Union Européenne de Gymnastique (UEG) awards the “Gymnast of the Year” every year. The Gymnastics Union is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, and is part of the four continental gymnastics federations. All members and interested parties could vote for their favourite in advance on the UEG website.
Olympic winner among the award winners
The official ceremony then took place at Munich’s Weitblick on the Rooftop Bar. With the best view of the Munich Olympic Park and thus of the European Championships 2022. The winners of the award were:
Boryana Kaleyn from Bulgaria in the rhythmic gymnastics category,
Ferhat Arican from Turkey in the category Artistic Gymnastics Men and
Jessica Gadirova from Great Britain in the category Artistic Gymnastics Women.
All three athletes have achieved great feats in recent years, for example Jessica Gadirova won the bronze medal in the team all-around at the 2020 Olympic Games.
Stage set-up, PTZ cameras and direction – all from one source by Stream1.
So that everyone could really take part in the celebration, the award show was streamed live for the first time. Those responsible chose Youtube as the platform. There, everyone who was interested could watch the public stream and thus be part of the award ceremony. In addition, we also set up a stage in the location for the show. As a full-service livestream agency, this is also part of our portfolio. In addition, we used three PTZ cameras. The state-of-the-art cameras control our livestream technicians remotely. This saves manpower and thus costs. Several preview monitors, microphones and a set of loudspeakers rounded off the livestream. Three Stream1 technicians were on site to take care of the direction, sound and cameras. We also made the belly bands and all the necessary graphics in advance.
The livestream from Munich is still on Youtube to watch:
