Enforce Tac in Nuremberg, which took place from February 24 to 26, 2025, is one of the most important international trade fairs for internal and external security. Leading exhibitors and trade visitors come together here to discuss technological developments in the field of security and defense technologies.
Enforce Tac is not a standard trade fair – exercises and simulations are carried out here. For three days, the Nuremberg exhibition center is transformed into a real military training camp. Due to security precautions, admission to Enforce Tac is restricted. Access is reserved for selected trade visitors from the police and security authorities, which guarantees a highly specialized and focused atmosphere.
However, as not all interested parties can attend in person, livestreaming comes into play. It makes it possible to follow the latest developments from a safe distance and experience demonstrations on large screens. But how does such a livestream work technically and what are the challenges involved in implementing it? We were on site and broadcast the trade fair live using a mobile studio and state-of-the-art technology.
The technical setup: Cameras, cables and coordination
The Enforce Tac livestream was based on a combination of fixed PTZ cameras, mobile camera teams and bodycams.
PTZ cameras (pan-tilt-zoom) formed the technical backbone of the transmission. Five of these cameras were installed on trusses in the exhibition hall and provided stable images of exhibition stands, panels and audience reactions. The challenge here was the long cabling: Every connection in the large hall had to be carefully planned to avoid signal interruptions.
The setup was complemented by two mobile cameramen who filmed important moments and detailed shots of products. Their task was not to miss any key scenes and at the same time to ensure that they did not obstruct the action. Coordination with the operators took place via intercom and quick reactions were required, especially when the presenter spontaneously pointed something out.
Bodycams were another component. These cameras provided additional perspectives and increased the authenticity of the stream by offering insights that cannot be realized with classic camera systems.
Double direction, but one goal
Controlling the complex image streams required two independent control rooms: The first control room was exclusively responsible for the bodycam recordings.
The second control room took over the central coordination: it controlled the PTZ cameras, the mobile teams and the bodycams simultaneously. By combining all the image sources, a harmonious stream was created with seamless transitions, graphic overlays and synchronized sound. Coordination between the two control rooms took place via intercom, a dedicated communication system that enabled quick decisions to be made even in the event of unforeseen scenes.
Challenges of a dynamic event
The transfer of the Enforce Tac placed high demands on technology and organization.
The technical complexity was mainly due to the infrastructure: the long cable runs of the PTZ cameras required redundant signal paths. At the same time, the mobile teams had to be constantly present in the fast-paced trade fair environment so as not to miss any relevant content without hindering operations on site.
A key success factor was the coordination between the camera teams, director and presenter. Every instruction from the moderator, every spontaneous change in the process had to be implemented immediately in order to guarantee the professionalism and flow of the stream.
Livestreaming as a strategic tool for events in the security industry
The Enforce Tac has shown that professional live streaming can also be realized in highly sensitive environments. It not only offers an extended range, but also creates digital participation that is compatible with the security requirements of the event. By using state-of-the-art streaming technology, complex events such as trade fairs can be broadcast efficiently and reliably.
We put together our complete package for Enforce Tac 2025: In addition to the livestream, we also produced social media videos. Watch our current livestream and the social media clips here to relive or share the most exciting moments of the event: [insert link]. This enabled us to reach and inspire not only the trade visitors on site, but also a global audience digitally.
