“Reading strengthens the soul” – we can only agree with the French philosopher Voltaire. The German government also honors literary diversity with the German Publishing Prize. This year there were 66 winners in a total of three categories. This year’s award ceremony took place at the Münchner Kammerspiele – streamed live by Stream1.
Hybrid event at the Kammerspiele in Munich
The setting: a hybrid award ceremony. Presenter Knut Cordsen was joined on stage by Minister of State for Culture Monika Grütters and deputy jury chair Patricia Klobusiczky. 13 of the 66 prizewinners accepted the award in person at the Münchner Kammerspiele, while the others were able to attend virtually.

Living room atmosphere in the livestream
The Kammerspiele stands for 95 years of acting in Maximilianstraße. So it was a special honor for us to broadcast a livestream here. Armchairs and the works of the award-winning publishers created a living room atmosphere on the stage. The Kammerspiele took care of the professional lighting, sound and atmosphere.

Fail-safe transmission thanks to Bonding Internet
Our partner www.livestream-server.de took care of the GDPR-compliant transmission of the stream. The hybrid event was hosted in the German data center. We also used 3 PTZ cameras with 4K optics and NDI, which provided varied images. The use of the Mine Media Q8 provided a fail-safe, stable live stream in the theater. In addition, our technicians were also responsible for the import of presentations, belly bands and videos.

From the Frankfurt Book Fair to Munich
The German Publishing Award was presented for the third time. In 2019, the award ceremony took place at the Frankfurt Book Fair and this year the Munich Kammerspiele was chosen as the venue for the award ceremony. Minister of State for Culture Grütters established the prize to honor literary diversity in Germany. The three top prizes went to Korbinian Verlag from Berlin, Leipzig-based publisher Klett Kinderbuch and Hartmann Books from Stuttgart. A total of 66 publishers were able to enjoy a total prize money of around 1.6 million euros. More about the prize at www.deutscher-verlagspreis.de.
