“A reach like never before” – Cornelia Rudloff-Schäffer, President of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA), drew a positive conclusion to the DPMA User Forum. Due to the pandemic, the three-day event took place online. Around 1,000 guests followed the lectures, discussions and seminars as a live stream. Behind the camera and at the director’s desk: Stream1.
Exciting discussion about the mobility of the future in the livestream
Under the motto “Virtual.Connected.Diverse”, top-class guests such as Martin Schuster from the BMW Group and Barbara Diehl, Federal Agency for Leap Innovation, discussed innovations in energy generation and the mobility of the future. The DPMA reported encouraging figures from Germany: German companies are in first place among the countries with the highest number of patent applications for technologies that serve climate-friendly mobility.
Create innovation and investment for patents
For surveys and submitted questions from viewers, the DPMA used the tool Sli.do with the support of Stream1. Many issues revolved around the pandemic, such as a release of patents on Covid vaccines. For Dr. Christian Wichard, live from the Federal Ministry of Justice in Berlin, a release would not be a good solution. Companies need incentives to continue investing in innovative technologies.
Hybrid event as desired solution for DPMAnutzerforum
A survey during the livestream shows that online formats are no longer seen as a purely emergency solution. When asked in what form the next DPMAnutzerforum should take place, 70 percent of the audience favored a mixed event consisting of face-to-face and online elements. For us, this is confirmation that hybrid events have many advantages over face-to-face events.
Our mobile Livestream Studio in use at the Patent Office
The setting for the livestream consisted of three PTZ cameras and Sennheiser headsets. Not only sound and image have to be right, but also the lighting mood. For this we used our latest acquisition: lamps from Astera. A stable Internet connection on site in Munich was guaranteed by the Mine Media Internet Bonding Router M4 Mini. In addition, a second device from Mine Media was in use: the Live Video Bonding Encoder Q8. For a live behind-the-scenes look, we used a video radio system with a Sony Alpha camera.
Impression film worth seeing with exciting behind-the-scenes insights
But we can do more than just livestream: In addition to the video transmission, our technicians collected impressions on site for a film. We then edited the film footage and created a worthwhile impression film with exciting behind-the-scenes insights. In addition, we produced graphics, belly bands and small films in advance as openers before each new event and presentation.
