Trade fair livestream – car presentation for Sono Motors at CES 2021

Presentation of a world first at a digital trade fair

Corona makes it necessary: Trade fairs are also taking place online in 2021.
Livestreams of meetings, conferences or internal training courses are an everyday request for us. But the presentation of a world first? That’s also something special.
We put a solar car in the spotlight – for trade fair participants and industry experts from all over the world.

From a call to Stream1 to a successful trade fair livestream: In 4 steps!

Call – From Munich to Las Vegas

The future of mobility looks inconspicuously black on the outside. But there is a lot of green power in this car. The entire body is made of solar cells and the car runs on solar energy.

Lively camera work provides variety in the livestream

But the job began in the traditional way with a phone call to our Munich head office. In a first non-binding conversation, we listen to the customer’s wishes and discuss the livestream event together. How many participants are there? Will external people be connected? Should the viewers interact with each other via our Stream1 platform?

In the case of Sono Motors, it was the legendary technology trade fair CES in Las Vegas, where the start-up wanted to present its new solar car to potential investors. The developers also provided information about the vehicle and answered questions from trade fair participants live.

Planning – Professional planning for the perfect stream

Of course, if you want to inspire investors, everything has to be perfectly coordinated: light, sound and image. This is precisely why regular and detailed consultation with our customers during the planning phase is so important to us.

We also planned the stream for Sono Motors in close coordination with Sono Motors. The location chosen was a large TV production studio near Munich. In addition to the car, the CEOs also had to be arranged attractively in the studio. Of course, the technical conditions also had to be clarified in advance. We streamed the event on 3 channels at once: for trade fair participants on the official trade fair website, for employees in an internal Zoomcall and on Youtube for fans of the brand.

Stream – High-quality technology and years of experience

This time we chose our Sony cameras for the trade fair stream. We usually use panning and remote-controlled PTZ cameras, but due to the large space, we opted for the static version. The set-up was done the day before, so there was enough time for a detailed rehearsal of the process. This also took away the nervousness of the company bosses, so that they appeared confident during the final stream.

A few days beforehand, we produced a short introductory film that presented the car to the interested world public. The advantage with us: we are not only a streaming company, but also a film production company. After the clip, we cut to the studio, where a presenter led us through the program, asked questions submitted to the developers and demonstrated the features of the solar car with our mobile cameraman. Questions received live were transmitted directly to the presenter’s tablet.

Recording – Make the stream available afterwards

Wow, what an event. The trade fair lasted two days with a different focus. Several hundred car experts took a close look at the innovation. But the overall professional experience impressed the trade fair participants – much to the delight of Sono Motors, of course.
