A pitch is part of the everyday life of an agency. Whether it’s for an advertising campaign or in our case as a permanent livestream partner, everyone who works in an agency knows about pitches. While some want to answer everything flexibly off the cuff, others design elaborate PowerPoint presentations. But when decision-makers hear the tenth presentation according to the same pattern, they often switch off and no longer listen properly.
Pitch as permanent livestream partner for renowned company
We too have had to pitch recently. This involved the job as a permanent livestream partner of a renowned company. We had a good week to prepare the pitch. Our boss Martin is not a big fan of pitches, for him it has something “of a free test meal in a restaurant”. That’s why he approached us and said, let’s try something new and implement a live show including an outdoor shoot.
For the first time Stream1 is in front of the camera itself
For us, this is a double challenge: we can implement live streams for customers. And we have also provided advice on the concept and process for many streams. But can we also realize a live show ourselves, where we can present ourselves, the team and the different facets of Stream1 in a varied way? And with only one week of preparation time?
Years of experience combined team performance
In order not to lose any time, we immediately discussed together in the group how the stream could look like. Our years of experience in the livestream business helped us to achieve this. Should each team member introduce themselves individually and if so in what order? In addition, how can we meet the requirements and specifications for the pitch? At Stream1, we have experts in every field. At the same time, not every department works on its own. During the discussion, for example, our editor Melanie wrote diligently. Then she summarized all the previous points and worked out a script on this basis.
Several interludes for variety in the live show
A live show thrives on variety. That’s why Livestream Operator Andy also prepared several clips that we can play in between each post. In these inserts, for example, selected customers talked about their experiences with Stream1. After all, it is always more convincing to get feedback from customers than to talk about the successes of the livestream agency itself. Also, some employees did not want to or could not introduce themselves live in front of the camera. That’s why we shot introduction videos with them.
We won’t let that take the sausage off the grill – the outdoor shoot
Another requirement for the pitch was how we, as a livestream agency, could implement an outdoor shoot. Well, what’s more convincing than an actual live outdoor shoot? We used our courtyard as the location. In the foreground the project management team Jakob and Carsten moderated, in the background we present our vehicle fleet. As a little gag and also as proof that this part actually took place live, sausages were also prepared on a grill at the same time.
The day of the pitch with lots of excitement and cheesecake
Then came the day of the pitch. The script was fine-tuned right up to the last second. After preparing our studio and setting up the outside shoot, we were able to do exactly one rehearsal run with everyone involved. We have to admit: although we go live on air almost every other day, we were very excited this time. But it all worked out. Everyone knew exactly when to say what. All the players were also presented to the customer in the right place.

And the effort was worth it. With our very creative and also unusual approach, we were able to convince the company of us and are now in the second round. Our main objective during the pitch: to introduce and convey the spirit of our team. After the live show, by the way, we watched the recording together as a team-building activity with a slice of cheesecake and a sip or two of beer.
