At Stream1, we are always on the lookout for the best solutions for live streaming and broadcasting. To really put our technology to the test, we took on a special challenge: A 9-hour non-stop livestream while travelling from Munich to Amsterdam!
The challenge: 9 hours of streaming at 150 km/h
We decided not only to drive through the beautiful countryside, but also to test the latest streaming technology. Our goal? To show which devices and systems work reliably even under extreme conditions, such as a long-distance journey. And all in real time!
On board: The best bonding routers and encoders
During the trip, we tested some of the best and most innovative bonding routers and encoders on the market:
- Univiso UV600 – A high-end device for demanding broadcasts that delivered a stable picture throughout the trip.
- Kiloview P3 – A flexible system that offered us many setting options and impressed us with its remote functions.
- MineMedia C3 – A tried and tested system that also accompanied us on the route, but encountered some challenges during the journey.
Crossing the border and mobile phones – a real endurance test
Crossing the border was a particularly critical point during our journey. This often shows how stable the systems really are. The Univiso UV600 passed this test with flying colours and the image remained stable even when we crossed the border. Kiloview also performed well, although there was a slight hitch.
Conclusion: Who won the race?
After 9 hours of live streaming, we can say that there is no clear winner, but one important realisation. Choosing the right streaming technology depends heavily on your budget and requirements:
- High-end devices such as the Univiso UV600 deliver first-class results, as expected.
- Mid-range solutions such as Kiloview surprise with strong performance at a reasonable price.
- Budget devices such as MineMedia fulfil their task, but are only suitable to a limited extent for particularly demanding routes and conditions.
Next stop: The IBC in Amsterdam
After our 9-hour livestream, we went straight on to the IBC (International Broadcasting Convention), where we were able to discover even more innovative technology for livestreaming and broadcasting. We made new contacts and discovered interesting products for future tests.
What does the future hold?
We at Stream1 are excited about the advances in live streaming and look forward to continuing to find the best solutions for our customers. One thing is for sure: our journey continues – and we will continue to provide you with exciting tests and insights from the world of live streaming.
Stay tuned and let us know in the comments which technology interests you the most!
